Used mirror - mirror
Use of rearview mirrors in automobiles is something that seems very obvious in hindsight. When you are traveling at sixty miles per hour, you cannot afford to take your eyes of the road for even a few seconds. This makes it very difficult for the driver to keep track of other vehicles on the road behind him. This problem was faced by car drivers even at a time when cars did not run at high speeds. The first decade of the 20th century saw rear view mirrors being described in a book. This was in 1906. A racing car driver made use of a rearview mirror when he could not find a mechanic to accompany him in the race. The job of the mechanic was to take care of any problem that arose in the middle of the race and also to warm the driver about other cars behind him. The racer made use of a rear view mirror instead of the mechanic and won the race. By 1920's, all car manufacturers were offering these mirrors as standard accessories.
First World War saw the popularity of trucks increasing and the mirror was borrowed from cars to trucks and buses as well. The size of the mirror varied depending upon the requirements of the driver. Car manufacturers came up with the idea of fitting mirrors not just inside the car but also on the side to facilitate quick judgment. At first, mirrors were fitted on the driver's side only.  However, mirrors began to be fitted on the passenger side as well. The car manufacturers realized that mirrors on both sides would help reduce the blind spots to manageable proportions.
Car mirrors are simple devices with common sense determining the design. A convex mirror is encased in a plastic casing and this assembly is fitted to the automobile. The latest mirrors are electronically powered and can be adjusted without taking hands of the steering wheel. This has led to car mirrors becoming more and more expensive. This is the reason why demand for used mirrors is increasing. Nobody ever disposes an automobile just because of a faulty mirror.  Hence, cars that have been disposed for salvage usually have mirrors in top condition. Buying a used mirror involves little compromise on quality. One just has to check whether the reflection is clear and accurate.

Another reason why usedmirrors are becoming popular is that different companies have different mirror designs. GM mirrors are shaped differently and are of a different size as compared to Ford mirrors. Fitting a GM mirror as a jeep rear view mirror will make your vehicle look different and unique without heavy expenditure. Apart from size and shape, one can opt for mirrors encased in metal casings. This gives us the option to use chrome casings for dazzling interiors. A usedmirror provides more opportunity for modifications and variations. If the end result is not to your liking, you can always opt for another used mirror.
